Wireless Infrastructure/VSAT/PtP

In the last few years, the number of worldwide cellular base stations has exploded from the hundreds of thousands to the many millions. The base station interface between wireless phones and traditional wired phones enables wireless low power phone usage and massive frequency re-use for high user capacity. It is composed of several antennas mounted on a tower and a building with electronics in it at the base.
The base station market has evolved drastically over the last 10 years in order to bear the increase in usage of wireless communications. Current platforms use 3G technology, and the latest architecture now entering initial deployment is known as Long Term Evolution, or LTE.

Wireless operators are investing heavily on buying and building LTE base stations and related equipment over the next several years. LTE  base station equipment spending is expected to increase dramatically as well.

The increase in download speeds that LTE offers will translate to newer and better LTE equipment requirements, helping businesses and individuals to perform transactions much faster than they are doing today, a prime motivating factor for the technology to be universally adopted, provided service providers can keep prices competitive.

While there may be sharing of established infrastructure, most of these new LTE base stations will have completely new baseband and RF components, due to its completely different architecture.

The VSAT market has evolved from early implementations at C band, and now is designing and producing hardware up at Ka Band. The usage has progressed from ATM and gas station billing access to cruise ships with internet cafes, car rental agencies and the downloading of MP3 audio to audio players. Military applications also abound, requiring hand held radios for implementation and high power amplifiers to support Communications-On-The-Move (COTM) hardware.

Spectrant offers critical components supporting the Infrastructure market. Since our beginning, Spectrant has delivered almost every type of component inside the RF section of a base station power amplifier. For our customers, we provide the most cost effective and superior performing products in the industry. For our manufacturers, we provide the hardware design experience and insight to get your products designed into our customer's platforms.
